During the IPL 2023 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rinku Singh once again displayed his exceptional batting skills, continuing his impressive form in the tournament. However, despite his valiant effort, KKR fell short of their target, losing the match by 23 runs. Rinku’s unbeaten knock of 58 runs off just 31 deliveries, which included four boundaries and four maximums, was a treat to watch, demonstrating his ability to score quick runs with ease.
Ian Bishop hails Rinku
The former West Indian cricketer and now a commentator, Ian Bishop, was effusive in his praise for Rinku Singh’s IPL 2023 performances, highlighting his talent and temperament. Bishop also went on to make a bold prediction, stating that he sees Rinku as a potential India A player in the future, considering his consistent and impressive performances in the IPL.
“I am wondering when he gets an elevation. I saw him last season, there is something about him besides the numbers that we have seen. You look at his first-class records, so I am hoping an India A call up is atleast around the corner for him”, Bishop said while lauding Rinku on ESPNCricinfo.
Meanwhile, Tom Moody added, âI suppose it is a case of where India see him fitting into what format. What is it, where Rinku could be part of India’s white-ball campaign, whether be it 20-over cricket, 50-over or Test cricket. So that call up I don’t disagree it and he is backing it up with these big numbers from first class cricket.â
Rinku Singh, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, has been a consistent performer in First-Class cricket, having amassed 2875 runs in just 40 matches, with an outstanding average of 59.89 and a commendable strike rate of 70.88. His impressive performances in the domestic circuit have garnered him attention, and he will be looking to carry forward his good form in the IPL 2023 to enhance his chances of earning a call-up to the national team.
