“We should have made at least” Bangladesh Captain Shanto Reflects on Missed Opportunities and Strategy

As rain interruption was a big setback in the match but it was a thrilling encounter. Bangladesh started the match with a setback. While batting in the first innings, Tanzid Hasan lost his wicket on a duck. Skipper Shanto scored 41 runs and Towhid Hridoy added 40 runs. 

The other batters failed to make an impact as Rishad Hossain was dismissed on 2 runs. Shakib Al Hasan scored 8 runs in 10 balls. Taskin Ahmed remained unbeaten scoring 13 runs in 7 balls. Even while bowling, their struggle continued. Rishad Hossain secured two wickets and the other bowlers remained wickets. Rain ended the game early and Bangladesh faced a defeat by 28 runs.  

While reflecting on this match, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto said, “The wicket was good, bit slow, but we should have made at least 170. Playing against this team, we should gamble, today Rishad came at 4 to tackle the spinners, he’s a big-hitter but he couldn’t execute that.”

Shanto talked about their plan and said, “I’m doing alright so far, enjoying playing here and think I can do a bit more.
