Virender Sehwag finds Rishabh Pant has the ability to replace MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant is the man India is looking up to who can fill in MS Dhoni’s vacant place. The 21-year old has already received applaud for a lot of experts. Now Virender Sehwag comes out to bat for Pant. Sehwag, who is famous for his straight talk has said that Pant has all the component to succeed MS Dhoni as a wicket-keeper batsman on a long term basis.

Pant can replace Dhoni

Dhoni already took retirement from Test cricket long ago in 2014. His white-ball retirement makes headlines often but nothing is confirmed yet. He is still considering a limited-over international career. Following the World Cup debacle, Dhoni has been criticized a lot for his approach to one day cricket. But at the same time, the question of his replacement raises a few eyebrows. Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, has emerged as one of the brightest new generation players for India. His maturity at this tender age surprises legends often. Like a lot now Sehwag also thinks than Pant has the ability to replace the great MSD. “I think Rishabh Pant is the best one (option). He proved himself in Test cricket and now he may prove himself in ODIs and T20Is again. He is the best guy to replace MS Dhoni.”

Pant should open

Viru explained how correcting shot selection with time can help Pant grow as a long term player for India.”He (Pant) will take some time. If he corrects his shot selection, he will serve Team India for a long time.” The former opener of Indian team also suggested that Pant can open the innings in limited over cricket. “I am sure in the coming three or four years, you will see Pant opening for the team. He has the capability to open the innings in the limited-overs format.”
With Dinesh Karthik left out of all three squads to face the Windies, Wriddhiman Saha was the only keeper-batsman that Pant had to compete with. Fortunately, the young talent was given preference by the management in the first Test against in Antigua.
