Virat Kohli reads the book, Twitter goes crazy

The Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli makes headlines almost daily with new records. Even when he is not scoring runs he comes in the news with his lifestyle, vacations, or endorsements. But on Friday Kohli came in the news again because of a totally different thing. He did something quite unlike to his nature, something that he is not known for.

Kohli, the reader

On Friday, the second day of India vs West Indies first Test match at Antigua, Kohli was seen reading a book titled, “Detox Your Ego: Seven Easy Steps to Achieving Freedom, Happiness and Success in Your Life” by Steven Sylvester. Kohli, since the early days of his career, has been in the news often for his behaviours. The superstar’s attitude has often been criticized for being offensive a lot of times. But nobody has ever really heard of Kohli being a book worm. No wonder Kohli reading a book and that too something on ego correction will make headlines. Ravindra Jadeja was leading India’s fight back when the camera focused on Virat Kohli. The skipper was busy reading the book in the dressing room during the first session of Day 2 at North Sound. Kohli could manage to score only nine runs in the first innings and his dismissal made India struggle on 25/3.

Mithali Raj of men’s cricket

Kohli’s photo of the reading book went viral in no time and people started sharing different reactions on social media. Vedant Pratap Singh Jadon tagged the writer and said, “@StevenSylvester I think Kohli was reading your book. Expect a few hundred sudden orders from India now lol”. One said, “Looks like someone gifted him the right book!#WIvIND @imVkohli”. A few tried to guess who convinced Kohli to read that book. Some went on to recall women’s team captain Mithali Raj who is a known reader. Raj was also spotted reading a book during one of India’s matches.
