After a dominating performance throughout the tournament, India faced a disappointing defeat against Australia in the final match of the World Cup 2023. They played excellently in the whole tournament. They qualified into the finals being unbeaten in the whole tournament. If we look back at Team India’s World Cup journey, Virat Kohli shined the brightest. After receiving the Player of the Tournament award, he surpassed Sachin  Tendulkar’s record.

Virat Broke Sachin Tendulkar’s Record:

Virat Kohli is the greatest player in the World Cricket for all time. In this World Cup, he shined the brightest. After his exceptional performance in this edition of the World Cup, he was awarded the Player of the Tournament. He scored 756 runs in 11 innings in this tournament. He scored 6 half-centuries and 3 centuries in the World Cup.

After getting the Player of the Tournament award, he made a record and Surpassed Sachin Tendulkar once again. He was the player of the tournament 21 times in 157 series. Sachin Tendulkar won the Player of the Tournament  20 times in 183 series. Virat Kohli again showed his greatness. His hard work, passion, and hunger for the game is the key to his success. The torch of cricket excellence is passing from one great to another. 

‘Virat’ Excellence in the World Cup:

India had an exceptional season in this World Cup. They won all 10 matches in the group stage and the semifinal. Being unbeaten, they entered the final match. Virat Kohli was the star of India’s side throughout the tournament. He was exceptionally consistent in the tournament. He showcased his class and excellence on the global stage. His dreamy form was beneficial for India in the whole tournament. Since the first match against Australia, he started showing his class. In the first match, India was in a pressured situation. The team lost three wickets early. He played a responsible knock of 85 runs and secured India’s win.

Virat Kohli registered his first World Cup hundred in this edition against Bangladesh. While chasing the target of 257 runs, Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 103 runs in 97 runs. His innings were contained with 6 boundaries and 4 over-boundaries. He showcased some exceptional shots in this inning. Against New Zealand, he missed a well-deserved century. He got out by scoring 95 runs. That innings played a pivotal role in securing India’s win in the match.   

In the match against South Africa, Virat Kohli showcased his talent on the World Cup stage. On his birthday, he played an unbeaten century knock. He was not out on 101 runs in 121 balls. That exceptional innings was contained with 10 fabulous boundaries. India won the match by a massive 243-run margin. India may have lost the World Cup but won 1.4 billion hearts with their exceptional performance. The past one and half months became memorable for the outstanding performance by Team India.
