Virat Kohli Shares His Opinion On Cricket Behind Closed Doors

Virat Kohli agrees that the emotions of a live audience are difficult to recreate. However, he thinks that it is possible to go ahead with the way if that is the best possible solution available amid the current situation.

As the cricket world is now taking a long break because of the global pandemic caused by the COVID-19, a lot started to discuss the possibilities of hosting matches without audience in empty stadiums. While there are many want to go ahead with the idea, some are still doubtful about the possibility as the live audience makes a huge impact. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli was asked about the on a show by Star Sports called Cricket Connected. While the Indian skipper understands the difficulty of sudden changes, he also believes that it is quite possible to play closed-door games.

“It’s quite a possible situation, it might happen, I honestly don’t know how everyone is going to take that because we all are used to playing in front of so many passionate fans, I know it will be played at a very good intensity but that feeling of the crowd connecting with the players and the tension of the game where everyone goes through it in the stadium, those emotions are very difficult to recreate.”

Magic will be missing

In the wake of the novel Coronavirus initially, a lot of matches were hosted in empty stadiums but later all got postponed or cancelled. Amid the current situation when the uncertainty still looms over the future of post-pandemic cricket world, the boards are already thinking about the idea of cricket inside closed doors. Kohli even after understanding everything acknowledged the fact that the magic would be missing without the live cheering audience.

“Things will still go on, but I doubt that one will feel that magic happening inside because of the atmosphere that was created. We will play sports how it is supposed to be played, but those magical moments will be difficult to come by,” he opined.
