Virat Kohli and Naveen ul Haq engage in a battle of Instagram stories after last night’s fight

Virat Kohli and Naveen ul Haq have engaged in a battle of Instagram stories after last night’s game between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB defeated LSG on their home ground in Lucknow by 18 runs. During and after the game, there were moments of heated verbal spats between Virat Kohli and Naveen ul Haq, which eventually boiled down to the biggest controversy of the IPL 2023.

The fight between Virat and Naveen

During the game, Virat Kohli was highly animated, teasing the Lucknow crowd and LSG players with his words and gestures. Naveen ul Haq, who was at the crease during the 17th over, eventually lost his cool and said something back to Kohli. The heated argument was soon cooled down by the players and the umpires. However, the sparks were reignited after the game when the players were shaking hands to congratulate each other.

Virat Kohli tried shaking hands with Naveen ul Haq but the Afghani player rejected his hand and said something in return. Virat was infuriated and said something in return after which the fight between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli happened. The umpires and players from both sides were quick to intervene and the fight ended immediately. However, another fight was brewing between Naveen ul Haq and Virat Kohli over social media.

Kohli and Naveen’s Instagram stories

After the game, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and Naveen ul Haq, all three were fined by the BCCI for breaching the league’s Code of Conduct. Virat Kohli then took to his Instagram account and shared a quote from Marcus Aurelius, the Roman emperor, and philosopher. The quote in Virat’s story read, “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.”

It was clear that the tweet was directed towards Gautam Gambhir and Naveen ul Haq, and offered a slight explanation to Monday night’s events. However, Naveen ul Haq was also quick to react and posted a counter-story on his Instagram account. Naveen’s story, which was an indirect dig at Virat Kohli, read, “You get what you deserve that’s how it should be and that’s how it goes.”

Even though there have not been any follow-ups from both sides as of yet, the spat has divided the cricketing world into two parts, one with Kohli and the other with Naveen. However, we only hope that the fight does not brew further, and ends right here.
