Virat has 9 tattoos inked on his body, read their meanings

The youth icon Virat Kohli is famous for his style statement. He has got a number of tattoos that don’t only make him stunning, they also give meaning to his identity.

  1. Kohli often talked about the support he got from his parents since his childhood. Although he lost his father at the age of eighteen but never really got over the love he had for his father. Indian captain got the names of his parents, Saroj and Prem inked to express the emotion till the last day of his life. He once said, “It is a feeling, it’s not even something that can be put into words. Hence I wanted to make it a part of me until I’m alive.”
  2. Kohli’s left forearm has a tattoo of Lord Shiva meditating with Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in the background. Lord Shiva is known as the Destroyer of evil and the God of creation in Hindu mythology. The intention is to get positivity from Shiva and get all the negative attributes within himself so that the skipper can move ahead to become a better person in life.
  3. Just beside the tattoo of Lord Shiva, there is a tattoo of a monastery. It is important for the most important man in Indian cricket to keep his cool from inside. The tattoo symbolises peace of mind that helps him to remain calm and think wisely.
  4. Kohli’s list of tattoos has his ODI and Test cap number. In 2008, Virat Kohli became 175th Indian cricketer to play for India in ODIs and within the next three years, he became the 269th Indian Test player. While talking about this, Kohli mentioned, “These numbers will always remain with me because when you look back at the charts 200 years from now, in front of these numbers, there will be my name.”
  5. The tribal art represents aggression which is certainly an important trait of Virat Kohli. This is the first tattoo he got before painting his whole body with different art.
  6. The right arm of Kohli has a tattoo of a Scorpio. This was done because Kohli is a scorpion by birth and it is his sun sign. The right hander’s birthday is on November 5 1988.
  7. Virat has a tattoo of a Japanese Samurai that is based on the Bushido code of the Samurai. This denotes the seven virtues of being a warrior – Gi (Justice), Yu (Courage), Jin (Benevolence), Rei (Politeness), Makoto (Honesty), Meiyo (Honor) and Chugi (Loyalty). Kohli feels that these are the characteristics he has. He fought for whatever he got in life and “I will have to be this person all my life because of the choices that I will keep making.”
  8. This is a tattoo of a big celestial eye. In Kohli’s own words, “I call it the God’s eye. So, basically, the all-seeing eye.” This helps him to remain grounded and reminds him that “everything that’s happening is being watched and there’s someone always keeping a count of everything that you do.”
  9. The 9th tattoo is the Om symbol that is the universal sound. This helps the Indian legend to understand the essence f life. This keeps him grounded because the human being is nothing but a dust particle in the universe.
