“Very proud of the unit” Nepal Captain Rohit Paudel Applauds Bowlers’ Performance After Defeat

In the 31st match of the T20 World Cup 2024, South Africa and Nepal locked horns. After winning the toss, Nepal skipper Rohit Kumar Paudel opted to bowl first. While bowling in the first innings, the Nepal bowlers showcased their excellence. Dipendra Singh Airee and Kusal Bhurtel dominated the South Africa’s batting lineup. Bhurtel conceded 19 runs and secured 4 wickets. Aerie secured 3 wickets while conceding 21 runs. They restricted South Africa in 115 runs. 

After the defeat, the Nepal captain hailed the bowlers’ excellence. He said, “Very proud of the unit, especially the way we bowled and batted. We saw the wicket yesterday and thought it will be on the slower side. We saw that it helped spinners and that’s when we introduced Kushal Bhurtel and carried on with the spinners.”

On their heartbreaking Defeat:

In the first innings, the Nepal bowlers dominated the South African side. They restricted the opponent to only 115 runs. The target was easy to achieve but Nepal faced a heartbreaking defeat by a narrow margin of only 1 run. The batters showcased their characters. Aasif Shaikh played an innings of 42 runs in 49 balls. Anil Shah added a crucial 27 runs. But they faced hard luck.

While talking about this, he said, “We were so close yet a little far. We didnt do well in the crunch moments but we fought very well. Well be on the other side next time if we play teams like this more often. I want to thank the fans for supporting us. We are very grateful to them.”
