Varun Chakravarthy dedicates the Man of the Match award to his new born son and wife

The four-match losing trend for Kolkata Knight Riders is broken thanks to a strong overall performance. With 201 to chase, RCB started off well, scoring 30 runs in the opening two overs. Suyash Sharma, a 19-year-old leg-spinner, gave the critical breakthrough in his very first over by dismissing Faf du Plessis, the player with the most runs scored in this IPL, after Nitish Rana promptly switched to spin. In his subsequent over, he trapped Shahbaz Ahmed, and Chakaravarthy dismissed Maxwell in the final over of the powerplay.

For the first time this season, RCB lost three wickets in the space of six overs, along with two of their top batsmen. As Kohli and Lomror formed a half-ton partnership, Lomror, who had a quiet tournament thus far, assumed the role of the aggressor. In a span of five deliveries, KKR managed to get rid of both of the set hitters. Lomror was bowled out by a short delivery, and Venkatesh Iyer made an outstanding catch to end Kohli’s innings. After that, the visitors continued to contribute by taking wickets and never let RCB get back into the game.

Chakravarthy was rightly adjudged as the man of the match for taking 3 wickets in 4 overs giving away just 27 runs.

The mystery spinner said that he went for 49 in the last match but bounced back today. He further said that he has foucused more on accuracy than variations which has helped him gain control.

” Last match I went for 49 and this match I did well. That’s how crazy life is. (This year) More focused on accuracy rather than more variations. I didn’t want to add more variations,” Chakravathy said.

He has been closely working with Abhishek Nayar and AC Pratheepan whom he credited for his success.

“I have been working a lot and I’d like to credit AC Pratheepan – he’s been working for me and even Abhishek Nayar. I’d like to thank them.”

The bowler said that he likes to bowl in any phase of the innings and is unfazed by any challenge.

” I like that challenge (to bowl the difficult overs) and Nitish is giving the ball whenever he wants me to do the job, I am liking it.”

Varun Chakravarthy is yet to meet his new born son and dedicated this award to him and his wife.

“I like that challenge (to bowl the difficult overs) and Nitish is giving the ball whenever he wants me to do the job, I am liking it,” Varun concluded.

Jason Roy’s quick fifty, which included four fours and five sixes in his 56 runs off 29 balls, helped KKR reach 200/5 in 20 overs. For the visitors, Nitish Rana (48), Rinku Singh (18*), and David Wiese (12*) all contributed fast strikes. Wanindu Hasaranga and Vyshak Vijay Kumar both claimed two wickets for the RCB bowling unit, and Mohammed Siraj claimed a dismissal.
