Temba Bavuma’s Post-Match Wit Shines: First 10 Overs Bowling or Batting Which Hurt More?

Another clean and dominating win by India. Now India made it 8-0. On November 5, India and South Africa locked horns with each other at the Eden Gardens. That was an excellent match and an exceptional performance by India. They dominated the South African side throughout the second innings. South Africa registered their biggest defeat in their ODI history. In the post-match presentation ceremony, a response from South African skipper Temba Bavuma caught attention.

India’s Clinical win:

The two semifinalists locked horns at the Eden Gardens in the previous match. India’s performance was outstanding. Not on a very easy pitch, India put on a total of 326/5 after 50 overs. That was not an easy job. Rohit Shama set the base of India’s innings by scoring a quickfire 40 runs in 24 balls. His innings were contained with 6 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries. Then Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer conquered the field. Virat played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs in 121 balls with 10 boundaries. Iyer showed his masterclass. He played a knock of 77 runs in 87 balls.

In the second innings, the Indian bowlers were excellent. They snatched the win from South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets in 33 runs. Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets in 18 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets in 7 runs. Mohammed Siraj took 1 wicket in 11 runs. India hammered South Africa with a massive 243-run win.

Bavuma’s Witty Reply:

South Africa was in a disaster in the previous match. They were blown away by the Indian bowling excellence. In the post-match presentation, Bavuma was asked “ Did the first 10 overs hurt too much?” He gave a witty reply. He said, “ Definitely, but from bowling or batting?” it was a witty response from him.

The first 10 overs in both innings from India were exceptional and the basis of the winning. The tactics of skipper Rohit Sharma were excellent. In the first innings, after the first 10 overs, India’s score was 91/1. In the bowling, after 10 overs South Africa was 35/3. In that match, Ravindra Jadeja registered his maiden five-wicket haul in ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma was very aggressive in the first 10 overs while batting and made some terrific bowling and fielding changes. That secured India’s win.
