Team India Undergoes Modest Changes Ahead of the Third ODI Against Australia; Star Batter Rested

India registered another comprehensive win against Australia by 99 runs. On September 25, India beat Australia by 99 runs and Won the second ODI. With that win, India bagged the series in a 2-0 margin. After that clinical win, the Indian team will be heading to Rajkot to play the third ODI. India will try to whitewash the opponent ahead of the World Cup. But team management decided to rest Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur for the last and final ODI against Australia. 

Match summary: 

It was an absolute masterclass batting show by the Indian batters. Ruturaj Gaikwad got out quickly in the 2nd ODI. But Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer stole the Show. This duo made a 200-run partnership. Both of them scored centuries. Gill scored 104 runs in 97 balls. Shreyas scored 105 in 90 balls. KL Rahul also scored a responsible half-century. But Suryakumar Yadav was in another form. This batter scored the fastest century and remained unbeaten on 72 in 37 balls till the last. In the 50 overs, India scored 399/5. 

It was not an easy target to chase for Australia. Short got out quickly. He scored only 9 runs. Prasidh Krishna took two quick wickets. Ashwin made a lovely comeback. He took 3 wickets by giving 41 runs in 7 overs. Jadeja also took 3 wickets. In that match, Indian spinners were on a roll. Australia got all out on 217 runs. India bagged the win as well as the series.

Injury and rotational rest:

 Before the third ODI Indian camp got hit with bad news. Axar Patel got injured in a match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup and was ruled out of the game. He was coming back to the team in the third ODI but that is not going to happen. He is not fit to play the match so he is set to miss the last ODI. it is a setback for the team.

The World Cup is just a few days away. Team management is giving more importance to workload management. After the Asia Cup Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya were rested in the first two ODI. they are set to be back in the team ahead of the third ODI. Shubhman Gill and Shardul Thakur will be rested in the last game. They will be sent home. It is a beneficial technique for the team ahead of the World Cup. On September 27, India and Australia will face each other in the third ODI. India will try to whitewash the opponent before heading into the World Cup.
