Team India gets a new title sponsor

On Wednesday One 97 Communications Pvt. Ltd, owners of Paytm, has acquired the sponsorship rights for BCCI’s International and domestic matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the deal with the Paytm.

The story

According to an official statement by BCCI, the winning bid was at a price of INR 326.80 crores to be paid for the 2019-23 home season. Paytm won the award with a winning bid of INR 3.80 Crores per match. This means 58% incremental value in comparison to the previous per match value of INR 2.4 Crores. The CEO of BCCI Rahul Johri said in a statement, “I’m pleased to announce Paytm as the BCCI home series title sponsor. Paytm is one of the new generation companies of India and we at the BCCI are proud of Paytm continuing its long-standing commitment with Indian Cricket,” BCCI CEO Rahul Johri said in a statement.

On the other hand, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder & CEO, Paytm also expressed his excitement to be able to continue the long term association between Paytm and Indian cricket. “We are excited to continue our long-term association with BCCI and the Indian Cricket Team. Our commitment to Indian Cricket gets stronger with every season. India loves cricket and we at Paytm are the biggest fans of it.”

Team India ready

India is currently in the West Indies and all set to begin their journey of World Test Championship with two matches against the Windies. The two-Test series will begin on August 22 and will last till September 4. Prior to this, Indian cricket team won an ODI and a T20 series against the hosts under the prolific captaincy of Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri has been reappointed as the next Head Coach of the team and the selection process of other coaching staff are ongoing. The team is now all set for the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020 and also aiming to do well in the Test Championship.
