In the vibrant tapestry of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, India, Poonam Yadav was born on August 24, 1991. Her roots are embedded in a family where her father, Raghuveer Singh Yadav, served as a dedicated army officer before stepping into retired life. Munna Devi, her mother, masterfully balances their home front as a skilled homemaker. Embarking on her cricketing journey, Poonam Yadav made a pivotal move from Mainpuri to Agra to pursue her passion. Poonam Yadav marked her entry into the world of Test cricket on November 16, 2014, earning her cap number 82 in a match against South Africa. Her journey in the One Day Internationals (ODIs) commenced earlier, with debut cap number 107 on April 12, 2013, against Bangladesh.

 Adding to her international exploits, Yadav made her debut in the Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) on April 5, 2013, donning cap number 41, in a match against Bangladesh. These significant debuts paved the way for her to showcase her leg-spin prowess on the global stage.

Poonam Yadav played a crucial role in India’s journey to the final of the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, a gripping contest where the team narrowly lost to England by nine runs.
