Stephen Fleming clarifies Dhoni’s IPL retirement plans

For the last couple of seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there have been several speculations about Dhoni’s retirement. However, the former Indian captain beats all doubts and comes out on top of his game. Even before the start of the IPL 2023, many claimed this year to be Dhoni’s last IPL adventure. However, there have not been any official claims by the wicketkeeper batter or his franchise, the Chennai Super Kings. Amidst all flying rumors, CSK’s head coach Stephen Fleming has given a clarification about Dhoni’s retirement.

Is Dhoni retiring?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming has dismissed speculations about MS Dhoni’s retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the conclusion of the game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday. This comes amidst rumors of the legendary player and captain hinting at retirement after the ongoing IPL 2023.

Fleming confirmed that MS Dhoni had not given any indication about his retirement in the dressing room, putting all the rumors to rest. “No, he has not indicated anything as such,” exclaimed Stephen Fleming after the team failed to defend 200 runs against the Punjab Kings on Sunday.

A silent assasin

MS Dhoni, who has been an integral part of CSK since the inception of IPL, has been in fine form this season, leading his team from the front. With the ongoing speculations about his retirement, CSK fans, and cricket lovers were eagerly waiting for any confirmation. Dhoni has a habit of not creating hype about his retirement. The CSK captain has previously announced his international retirements (from Tests in 2014 and then from ODIs and T20 Internationals in 2020) when no one had anticipated that he would.

However, Fleming’s clarification has put all the rumors to rest, and MS Dhoni’s fans can now continue to enjoy his exceptional performances in IPL 2023 without any worry about his retirement plans.
