SRH to Donate Rs 10 Crore To COVID Relief Fund

The IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad came forward to donate Rs 10 crores to a coronavirus relief fund. Sunrisers Hyderabad took to their official social media account to announce the news.

Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday announced that the Hyderabad based franchise would be giving Rs 10 crores for the cause of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. This made them one of the first sports organizations in the cricket fraternity to do the same for the sake of the nation. The tweet read, “Sun TV Group (SunRisers Hyderabad) is donating Rs.10 Crores towards Corona Covid-19 relief measures. #COVID19 #CoronaUpdate”.

They did not mention any specific fund that would be getting their donation albeit. Their star player David Warner praised the gesture and the Aussie batter wrote, “How good is this well done Sun TV Group @SunRisers”.

Cricket fraternity comes forward

Meanwhile, several cricketers along with some associations joined the cause of fighting the pandemic. So far, the virus took 23 lives in the country. The numbers are increasing day by day which has become a matter of concern for authorities. From Sourav Ganguly to Virat Kohli, from Sachin Tendulkar to Mithali Raj- most of the big names of the Indian cricket contributed towards the coronavirus relief funds. A lot donated to the PM-CARES Fund and a lot chose to donate to their respective state funds.

The BCCI already announced a sum of Rs 51 crore to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund. The board also urged to the state associations to do their bit in an official statement, “The Board along with its state associations will continue to monitor and work closely with the Government of India, state governments and other state regulatory bodies and are committed to providing support to the state machinery in the face of adversity.”

Likewise, the Cricket Association of Bengal pledged Rs 25 lakh to the West Bengal Government. Maharashtra Cricket Association and Saurashtra Cricket association decided to do the same and contributed to the respective state governments.
