Seven More Pakistan Players Test Positive for COVID-19 Taking the Total Tally to Ten

One more bad news for Pakistan cricket as seven more players from the squad chosen for England have tested positive for the COVID-19. Pakistan Cricket Board in the official media release stated that a support member also tested positive for the novel virus.

Seven more Pakistan player contacted the virus

Seven more Pakistan cricketers, selected for the tour of England tested positive for the COVID-19 reportedly. Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz are the new names in the list of corona virus-positive players in the 29-member squad for Pakistan’s England tour. Yesterday an official statement from the country’s board had informed, “Haider Ali, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan have tested positive for Covid-19. The players had shown no symptoms until they were tested in Rawalpindi on Sunday ahead of the Pakistan men’s national cricket team’s tour to England. The PCB medical panel is in contact with the three who have been advised to immediately go into self-isolation.”

This means that now total of 10 primary cricketers in the Pakistan team have contacted the virus. Wasim Khan, the CEO of Pakistan Cricket Board in a media conference share his thoughts on the same. “It is not a great situation to be in and what it shows is these are 10 fit and young athletes…if it can happen to players it can happen to anyone.”

Pakistan squad to be revised

He informed that a support staff member namely masseur Malang Ali had also tested positive for the deadly COVID-19. As per his information, the players and officials would assemble at Lahore, go through another round of scrutiny on June 25, and then a revised squad would be announced on June 26.

The 29-member Pakistan squad are set to schedule to leave for the United Kingdom on June 28. Khan said, “It is a matter of concern but we shouldn’t panic at this time as we have time on our hands.” According to him upon reaching England, the entire team and management would be once again tested for the virus for precautions.
