Saurav Ganguly still hopeful about Delhi Capitals’ comeback in the tournament

The Delhi Capitals (DC), led by David Warner, have had a disastrous start to the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), losing each of their first five games. The majority of the games have been one-sided affairs, with Delhi clearly suffering in both departments.

The Delhi Capitals management are confident about a turnaround despite the terrible start, with Delhi’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly even making a daring statement. The comment was made by Ganguly in a video that the franchise posted on its social media pages.

Ganguly said

“We need to put this behind us. Back the captain, back each other together and we’ll come back fresh next game. We can’t get worse than this we can only get better, still nine games to go and we can win 9 out of 9,” said Ganguly.

“It doesn’t matter if we qualify or don’t qualify, it doesn’t matter so much for us at this stage. But let’s look inside, play for ourselves, play for our pride, and see if we can get there,” he added.

Ganguly advised supporters to support David Warner, the current captain of DC, by stating that they are a much superior team and that the results do not reflect their core strength.

“We are a much better side than what is happening on the field at the moment. It just takes one game to turn around and we’ll do that. Let’s stick to David (Warner), he’s the captain, and he’s is the most important man in the team,” said Ganguly.

Looking at Delhi’s season, they were outplayed by Lucknow in their opening game by 50 runs. Since then, the squad has had trouble and has lost to the Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The captain of the Delhi Capitals, Warner, has been scoring runs, but his strike rate has been a major source of worry. The Southpaw has a strike rate of 116.92 and has scored 228 runs in five games.
