On Thursday Sachin Tendulkar used a popular dialogue of Amitabh Bachchan’s famous movie, ‘Agneepath’ to congratulate the veteran for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Tendulkar wrote, “Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Poora Naam. Baap Ka Naam Dinanath Chauhan, Maa Ka Naam Suhasini Chauhan. Gaon Mandwa. Umar 36…” a line that gives me goosebumps even today! May you continue to win hearts across the globe, Amit Ji. #DadaSahebPhalkeAward”.

On Tuesday Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced the news of Amitabh being selected for the coveted award on Twitter. He tagged Amitabh Bachchan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wrote, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and the international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him.”

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the biggest superstars of Indian cinema. The 76-year old actor still continues to amaze people with his acting ability. Son of late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Amitabh has been a part of Indian cinema for over four decades. He was earlier honored with Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian honor in 2015. He began film career with ‘Saat Hindusthani” and has not taken retirement yet. He was last seen in a major role in the film, ‘Badla’. Bachchan has bagged four National Film Awards for his roles so farin ‘Agneepath’, ‘Black’, ‘Paa’ and ‘Piku’. He made his acting debut with ‘Saat Hindustani’.
