Sachin Has Something To Share About ‘Bhai Sahab’

Mohammad Kaif is famous for his fielding. Sachin Tendulkar who recently shared the field with Kaif in the Road World Safety Series told how they used to tell Kaif to be cautious while fielding.

Kaif, a fit weapon of Ganguly

Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh chased down the mammoth total of 326 in the Natwest series 2002 final against England at Lord’s and recorded one of the memorable moments in the history of Indian cricket. Sourav Ganguly then went on to celebrate in a unique way which is recalled by every cricket fan India. The right-handed batsman was one of the young guns Ganguly identified to build a new team under his captaincy. Kaif’s that particular was definitely his best in the limited-overs in the Indian jersey. But Kaif was also one of the brilliant fielders of Indian cricket. He was in fact often compared to Jonty Rhodes of South Africa.

He never cared for injuries and always gave his best during fielding. He was often backed by the team management for his brilliant ability to save a good amount of runs just by fielding. Recently in the Road World Safety Series Kaif took part and was seen putting his best on the field once again.

Tendulkar shares his experience

Sachin Tendulkar in a Youtube video on Sunday spoke about his experience with Kaif in the same and praised him for the efforts. “We had to tell Kaif to be cautious. We nicknamed him ‘bhai sahab’. ‘Bhai sahab, thoda sambhalke. It’s the first match, there are a lot of matches to be played.”

The master blaster further added that they were worried for Kaif getting injured during fielding. But he stressed that Kaif believes putting the best effort as a fit guy. “What if you pull a hamstring or something. It (diving and fielding quickly) comes naturally to me. He thinks if you are fit, you continue doing those things. He was a really fit guy. He was an outstanding fielder in team.”
