Royal Challengers Likely To Have Some Major Announcements, Change In Name And Logo

Royal Challengers Bangalore are probably going to have a name change ahead of the new season of the Indian Premier League. Some of their social media activities on Wednesday gave birth to such speculations.

Bangalore might have a new name and logo

The official account of Royal Challengers Bangalore removed its display picture and cover picture and the name was changed to ‘Royal Challengers’. The same was done on their other social media accounts like Instagram and Facebook. This gives birth to a strong speculation that this franchise is probably set for an official announcement soon with a new name and logo. Some reports suggest that the B of RCB will be changed to Bengaluru from Bangalore on February 16.

No change in captaincy

As the changes caught the attention of the fans, some started suggesting the change of captain as well. But the newly-appointed Director of Cricket Mike Hesson already confirmed that despite poor results Virat Kohli would be captaining the side in this edition of the league as well. “We don’t have that perception that Virat controls things. But maybe he has had his learnings from the past (mistakes) while moving forward,” Hesson said during a media interaction. He further added, “There has been no question mark over Virat’s captaincy during the last couple of weeks (of discussions).”

Apart from Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle (for the better part) also featured in the Bangalore based IPL squad but failed to bring the glory for the team. Now it is time to see whether the possible changes in name and logo can help Royal Challengers win the title.

Retained:

Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali, Yuzvendra Chahal, AB de Villiers, Parthiv Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Gurkeerat Mann, Devdutt Padikkal, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini

Bought (8):

Aaron Finch (4.4 crore), Chris Morris (10 crore), Joshua Philippe (20 lakh), Kane Richardson(4 crore), Pavan Deshpande (20 lakh), Dale Steyn (2 crore), Shahbaz Ahamad (20 lakh), Isuru Udana (50 lakh)
