After a long wait, the big day has arrived. ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be wrapping up for this edition after today’s final match. In the final stage, India and Australia will be locking horns at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This edition of the tournament has seen a lot of memorable things. India’s fielding medal is one of them. Before the final match, Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind this medal.
The Reason:
In the whole tournament, India has created so many memories. They just conquered the tournament. They won all the group-stage matches and the semifinal too. Being unbeaten they entered into the finals. India has shown great character on the field in batting, bowling, and fielding. Every game was a team game for them.
But after every match, the medal ceremony in the dressing room caught the limelight. It is something new in the team. Since the first game, fans have witnessed this interesting ceremony where India’s fielding coach announces the name of the best fielder of the match. But the most interesting part of the ceremony is the announcement is always done in a great way. Sometimes spider cams reveal the name sometimes the groundsmen announce the name. Even in a match, Sachin Tendulkar announced the name of the winner of that medal in a video message.
But everyone used to think what is the reason behind this and how it all started. Before the final clash, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind this ceremony. He said, “ Honestly, we never thought it would turn out like this, but the fielding coach just goes quite unnoticed. So, you know, he thought that fielding must be appreciated in this tournament and it is something that is going to win us the tournament as well. So, he came up with this idea of awarding a medal as to whoever has a good day on the field. And then obviously thought of giving that medal was something that was unexpected and we didn’t, none of the players expected that it is going to be so innovative and. It’s going to get all the players to come together and have a bit of fun, laugh which you can see in the country now. People are quite excited about it. So yeah, the pressure is on the fielding coach and our media manager to make sure that, it keeps happening. We have no idea how it’s going to be done. It’s just that there will be an award but how it’s done is nobody knows about it because that’s a bit of a surprise and that is what the excitement in the group is all about. So that is something that gets all of us going.”
The Final Battle:
The whole world is excited to see the final battle between India and Australia on the big stage. This fixture will decide the new world champion. Narendra Modi Stadium is all set to host the biggest battle of cricket. Both teams are ready. India is in excellent form.
on the other hand, Aussies are the most successful in this tournament. Both teams met in the 2003 final. After 20 years, they are meeting again in that match. In 2003, India faced a heartbreaking defeat. This time they will try the hardest to be the world champion.
