In an Instagram session, a fan asked Rohit Sharma about Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the star opener of Virat Kohli’s team said that he does not have any idea. Harbhajan Singh who was also part of the session said that he is unsure of the fact whether Dhoni wants to play anymore.
Rohit unaware of Dhoni
Rohit Sharma and Harbhajan Singh were having an Instagram live like all other cricketers having in this no-cricket period. These sessions are not only helping them to enjoy the lockdown phase but are also helping the fans getting some essence of cricket who are now being deprived of real cricket due to pandemic. In such a session, a fan asked Rohit Sharma about Dhoni’s future. Sharma clearly stated that he does not have any idea of the same and requested the fan to ask this question directly to Dhoni. “I request you to please ask Dhoni yourself, we do not know what is happening with him.”
Harbhajan Singh was on the other side of life. Bhajji is also part of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He decided to share his opinion on the same note and said that it is important to find out first whether Dhoni is keen to play for India anymore or not. “You should look to know whether Dhoni wants to play for India or not. As far as I think, I do not think he wants to play for India. I think he knew that the 2019 World Cup was the last tournament for him in India colours.”
Dhoni’s cricket future in doubt
Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has been out of cricket since India’s exit for World Cup 2019 semi-final was all set to make his comeback with the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni first took a sabbatical leave of three months then extended the same and kept himself unavailable for all tournaments. Chennai Super Kings meanwhile retained Dhoni as their captain for the IPL 2020 as well. So the fans were eagerly waiting for Dhoni to finally play cricket after a huge break.
The COVID-19 forced all to change the plan. Dhoni began his practice with the CSK team at the beginning of March as well. But the increasing COVID cases in India made the situation scary. The government had to go for extended lockdown till May 3, as of now and with that the start of IPL 2020 deferred until further notice.
