Dhoni’s cricket future in doubt

Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has been out of cricket since India’s exit for World Cup 2019 semi-final was all set to make his comeback with the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni first took a sabbatical leave of three months then extended the same and kept himself unavailable for all tournaments. Chennai Super Kings meanwhile retained Dhoni as their captain for the IPL 2020 as well. So the fans were eagerly waiting for Dhoni to finally play cricket after a huge break.

The COVID-19 forced all to change the plan. Dhoni began his practice with the CSK team at the beginning of March as well. But the increasing COVID cases in India made the situation scary. The government had to go for extended lockdown till May 3, as of now and with that the start of IPL 2020 deferred until further notice.
