PSL Revised Schedule Might be Clashed with IPL 2021

Due to the increased Covid-19 positive case numbers, the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to postpone the 6th season of Pakistan Super League. a bio-bubble breach was reported even before the start of the league. on Thursday, following an increase in number of Covid-19 cases, the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to postpone the league for the time being. The last season had faced similar issues and the OCB had to postpone the second phase of the 5th edition. Reportedly, the foreign players will soon leave the country while those who are Covid-19 positive will be able to fly back home after testing negative.

Just like the previous season, the PCB is optimistic about hosting the remainder of the fixtures this time as well. According to Cricinfo’s reportage, the league could resume in May. However, this means there could be clash between PSL and IPL, 2021.

Options for players

The Indian cricket board is yet to announce the fixtures of the Indian Premier League 2021. They are waiting for IPL Governing Council’s meeting to finalize the same along with the venues. The ongoing India-England series ends on March 28 and the Indian players are expected to be given much-needed rest before the start of the IPL 14th season. Reports suggest that there is a possibility of IPL starting in the second week of April.

If the IPL 2021 starts in the second week of April, it will surely be extended till May. In that case, there is a high chance of fixtures of two leading T20 leagues are clashing with each other. The IPL bound players like Faf du Plessis (Chennai Super Kings), Chris Gayle (Punjab Kings), Chris Lynn (Mumbai Indians), Imran Tahir (Chennai Super KIngs), Ben Cutting (Kolkata Knight Riders), Mohammad Nabi (Sunrisers Hyderabad) plied their trade in PSL 2021. This means they have to choose between two leagues.
