PSL 2023 is All Set to Start from Feb 13th

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that the 2023 Pakistan Super League will begin on February 13th. The opening match will feature the Lahore Qalandars and the Multan Sultans, last year’s finalists, facing off at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The Qalandars, who won the title in 2022, will be looking to defend their championship. The 34-game tournament will take place in four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Peshawar. The tournament will be divided into two legs, with matches being held in Multan and Peshawar from February 13th to 26th before moving to Karachi and Lahore. The Qualifier, Eliminators, and Final, all will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The final of PSL 2023 will be held on March 19th.

The schedule for the 2023 Pakistan Super League was set in December, prior to the change in leadership at the Pakistan Cricket Board. The new PCB management has not made any significant alterations to the schedule.

There were suggestions to move the opening ceremony out of Multan and hold it in Karachi, but that idea was not implemented. The only alteration made to the schedule is that the Lahore Qalandars, who were originally scheduled to play back-to-back games on February 19th and 20th, will now play on February 19th and 21st. The original February 21st game between the Quetta Gladiators and the Peshawar Zalmi will now take place on February 20th.

The schedule has been designed to allow four teams (Qalandars, Sultans, Karachi Kings and Islamabad United) to play five matches each in front of their home supporters, one match against each of the other teams. Quetta and Peshawar will not have any home games this year as their venues are not ready to host high-profile matches, but the plan is to have them ready for the 2024 PSL.
