In a high-scoring game at the Chinnaswamy, Chennai Super Kings defeated hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore by just 8 runs. The game was perfectly balanced for the most part, but CSK bowlers made a great comeback in the last 4-5 overs to clench victory from the jaws of defeat. However, after todayâs game, a few significant changes have happened in the Orange Cap list.Â
A new Number 1
Royal Challengers Bangaloreâs skipper Faf du Plessis has been in some fine form this season. The right-handed batter from South Africa has been leading his team from the front with the bat and has done the same in todayâs game as well. He scored a 33-ball 62 and curated a 126-run partnership with Glenn Maxwell for the third wicket. It seemed at one point that RCB would win the game but when these two fell apart, RCBâs innings did too. However, Du Plessis did receive the Purple Cap as a consolation prize as he is now the highest run-getter in the league with 259 runs in 5 games.
Bad day for Kohli and Ruturaj
RCBâs poster boy Virat Kohli and CSKâs golden batter Ruturaj Gaikwad had terrible outings today. While Gaikwad scored just 3 runs off 6 balls in the first innings, Kohli scored 6 runs off 4 balls and got out in the first over. As a result, Kohli has dropped from the 5th spot to the 6th spot whereas Gaikwad is on thin ice for his 8th spot.Â
A surprise entry, however, has been CSKâs second opener, Devon Conway. Conway led the charge for Chennai Super Kings with his 45-ball 83 that included 6 fours and 6 sixes. He has now amassed 181 runs in 5 games and has found himself at the 10th place in the Orange Cap list.
