Orange Cap Holder of IPL 2023: Updated After LSG vs PBKS Match 21

In the doubleheader today, Royal Challengers Bangalore emerged victorious against the Delhi Capitals in the first game whereas Punjab Kings earned a well-fought win against a formidable Lucknow Super Giants without their regular captain Shikhar Dhawan. However, the Purple Cap has seen a lot of shuffles after today’s games. 

Kohli moves up

Virat Kohli has been in his zone this season, having scored three fifties in 4 games. His third fifty came against Delhi Capitals in the last game. Kohli was the joint top-scorer of the game along with Manish Pandey. He scored 50 runs in 34 balls and was awarded the Player of the Match for his heroics. He has now jumped up 4 spots and is currently placed at the 3rd spot in the Orange Cap list. He is just 19 runs behind the current Orange Cap holder Shikhar Dhawan, who holds the position despite missing out on Punjab Kings’ last game.

His opening partner and RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis has also moved up a place, from 6th to 5th after scoring 22 runs in RCB’s last game against Delhi Capitals. He now has 197 runs in 4 games at an average of 65.67. 

Mayers back in top 10

After slipping out for a brief period, Lucknow Super Giants’ Kyle Mayers has found his way back into the top 10. He scored 29 runs from 23 balls and was the second-highest scorer for LSG in the game. He now has 168 runs in 5 games at an average of 33.60 and is currently placed at the 8th spot, just above Rinku Singh (9th position) and Sai Sudarshan (10th position)
