Ruturaj and Shubman go big

After the first game, Ruturaj Gaikwad has emerged as the leading run-scorer. Gaikwas smashed 92 runs in 50 balls to take the top spot in the Orange Cap list. Gaikwad’s innings included 4 fours and 9 sixes.

Another Indian opener who impressed in today’s game was Shubman Gill. Gill carried his international form into the IPL and was the highest run scorer for Gujarat Titans in the game. With an inning of 63 runs in just 36 balls, Gill has taken the second spot in the Orange Cap race.

Failed starters

However, he was pivotal in orchestrating a partnership with Shubman Gill that eventually helped Gujarat get home. Vijay ended the game as number 3 on the Orange Cap list.

Next in line is another Gujarat batter Wriddhiman Saha. Saha has been given just one job by the Gujarat camp and that is to smash without worry. The right-handed wicketkeeper batter gave Gujarat a flying start as he scored 25 runs in just 16 balls.

Moeen Ali and Sai Sudarshan also made it into the twenties but didn’t go further. Other players who failed to make it big include Hardik Pandya, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ben Stokes. However, it is only the first game of the season and there are going to be a lot of changes in the list as the season will progress.
