In an absolute disastrous showcase, Chennai Super Kings could score a mere 114 for the loss of nine wickets against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. Kieron Pollard-led Mumbai Indians chose to bowl first and the bowlers proved the call to be an apt one. The top four batsmen of CSK line-up could not reach double-digit scores, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored only 16 runs with the all-rounder Sam Curran saving the side from registering below-100 total. Sam Curran scored 52 runs off 47 balls with four fours and two maximums. Imran Tahir (13) and Shardul Thakur (11) were the other contributors in CSK’s total of 114. In reply, Mumbai Indians minus Rohit Sharma, their regular skipper and opener chased down the target without losing any wicket in 12.2 overs. Quinton de Kock scored an unbeaten 46 off 37 balls with Ishan Kishan ending as their highest run-scorer (68* off 37).
Faf du Plessis, thanks to his previous performances is the only representative of Chennai Super Kings in the Orange Cap table. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand have Quinton de Kock as their sole representative in the chart.
