Nitin Menon, the Sole Indian Umpire in ICC Elite Panel, to Officiate in Iconic Ashes Series

In a momentous achievement, Nitin Menon, the only Indian umpire in the prestigious ICC elite panel, is set to officiate in the upcoming Ashes series. The highly anticipated cricket rivalry between England and Australia will kick off with the first Test at Birmingham on Thursday, and Menon will take the field for the third Test, scheduled to be held at Headingley, Leeds, from July 6-10.

A proud moment for Menon

Menon, with his remarkable umpiring record, has etched his name among the best in the profession. He boasts an impressive tally of more than 100 international games officiated, which includes 22 Test matches, 48 ODIs, and 61 T20 internationals. His experience extends to serving as both an on-field umpire and a TV umpire, showcasing his versatility and knowledge of the game.

Hailing from Indore, the 39-year-old umpire will be entrusted with the crucial responsibilities of maintaining fair play, making crucial decisions, and upholding the spirit of the game during the third Test of the Ashes series. Menon’s exceptional track record and expertise make him a worthy addition to the elite panel of umpires for this iconic contest.

Joining Menon on-field for the third Test will be former Sri Lankan off-spinner Kumar Dharmasena, who brings his wealth of cricketing experience and astute judgment to the umpiring team. Jayaram Madangopal to officiate in ICC World Cup Qualifiers 

Meanwhile, in another significant development, India’s Jayaraman Madangopal has been appointed as the on-field umpire for three games during the ongoing ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. 

Madangopal will officiate in the Zimbabwe versus Scotland match on June 15, the West Indies versus USA match on June 18, and the Netherlands versus USA match on June 22. His inclusion as an on-field umpire in these crucial encounters further highlights the growing stature of Indian umpires in international cricket.
