Mumbai Indians Shut The Critics Bashing Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has had a tough time in New Zealand. While some of the fans and critics have already started to comment on it, he has found a new support system in his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians.

Bumrah’s struggle raises questions

For the very first time in his career, the star pacer found himself without any wicket in the three-match ODI series in New Zealand. He has been going through a tough time since the second half of 2019 due to a back injury. He just returned to action in the last month during the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Since then he has been struggling to be among wickets. He gave 32 runs and picked up one wicket in his comeback game. In the next game, it was just one wicket and the struggle continued against Australia as he got one wicket in the three-match ODI series.

Then came the New Zealand series where the right-arm pacer has been economical with the ball on most of the occasions but failed to scalp any wicket. In the T20I series as well he could just take six wickets in five games. India suffered a whitewash as a result and the fans started to criticise the pacer for his unexpected performances.

While already Ashish Nehra showed his support to the star bowler of the Indian cricket team and said, “You can’t expect Bumrah to deliver in every series. One has to remember he is returning from injury. It’s difficult for anybody to keep performing at the top of his game all the time. Even Virat Kohli has had a quiet series.”

Fortunately, Bumrah got the support of his IPL team as well. The defending IPL champions took to Instagram to remind the critics of the value of the speedster. They posted a screenshot of some comments which criticised the franchise for spending whopping INR 1.2 crore to retain the pacer in 2014. Jasprit Bumrah did not only justify the amount, but he also went on become to best pacer of Indian Premier League.
