Mohammad Kaif knows his choices well. He can clearly name the best Indian captain he has ever see and he knows who runs the best between the wickets. And by the answers, he actually is able to impress one and all!

Kaif on Dhoni’s running between wickets

Mohammad Kaif, former India cricketer saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni closely in his initial days. He was a part of the Indian team during Ranchi cricketer’s debut match where Dhoni was dismissed run out. Kaif, who was India’s one of the primary fielders and helped change Indian players’ outlook about fielding was surprised to see Dhoni’s fast running. The current assistant coach of Delhi Capitals recalled the moment, “I still remember the times when I ran with MS Dhoni between the wickets. The kind of pace and intensity with which Dhoni ran and continues to do so is unbelievable.”

Kaif added, “I think MS Dhoni is the fastest runner between the wickets in the world. I was shocked to see how competitive a player he is, who doesn’t go to the gym, eats and loves his Butter Chicken and Biryani, run this fast.”

Kaif’s best Indian captain

The 39-year-old went on to share his thoughts on one of the most trending questions on Indian cricket. Kaif on a live chat on Helo app said that according to him Sourav Ganguly is the best Indian captain. He further explained how the current BCCI president led the country to some of the glorious moments under his captaincy. “Sourav Ganguly is the best Indian captain and he’s led the country to several glories under his leadership.”

While speaking about his brilliance on the field the Natwest 2002 hero said that he received respect for the same from the legends like Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar which worked as motivation. “People recognised me for my fielding skills, I got a lot of respect in the team for that. I also got respect for my fielding, from Sachin, Ganguly. That respect used to motivate me to do more.”
