Mohammad Hafeez Tested Negative for the COVID-19

Finally, some positive news for the Pakistan cricket team as the all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez tested negative for the COVID-19. This news comes just a day after the board had found his report positive.

The backdrop

According to Pakistan Cricket Board’s yesterday’s bulleting, 10 players and one staff from the squad chosen for the upcoming England tour had tested positive. The players are Haider Ali, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz. The board in its official release had informed that the players “will observe self-isolation in their homes and remain under strict monitoring of the PCB medical panel. As soon as they will complete their minimum quarantine period, they will undergo further testing and after their two tests are negative, they will be flown to England on a commercial airline.”

The team is scheduled to leave for the tour on Sunday after having another test. The CEO Wasim Khan had informed that the team would be revised accordingly.

In another news, the all-rounder of the team Mohammad Hafeez said that he went for retest along with his family and was tested negative for the deadly virus. Hafeez took to social media to disclose the news attaching his second report. He said that it was personal satisfaction that he went for another test privately and happy to see the reports. “After Tested positive COVID-19 acc to PCB testing Report yesterday,as 2nd opinion & for satisfaction I personally went to Test it again along with my family and here I along with my all family members are reported Negetive (sic) Alham du Lillah. May Allah keep us all safe,” Hafeez tweeted along with the photograph of the medical report.

However, Hafeez had not officially informed the board about this second test. This means the matter could become a disciplinary issue.
