McCullum Shares Gameplan Against MI

Brendon McCullum believes that it is not yet over for Kolkata Knight Riders. He believes Kolkata can make it to the next stage and was seen demonstrating the game plan to his side for the match against Mumbai Indians.

KKR to face MI Today

Kolkata Knight Riders will face Mumbai Indians in the next match of IPL on September 23. Kolkata have a terrible record against Mumbai; on the other hand, they have to win at least four out of remaining six games to remain in the race. After struggling in the first phase of IPL 2021, Kolkata was seen winning convincingly against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening game of the UAE leg of IPL 2021.

In a video shared by Kolkata Knight Riders, the head coach Brendon McCullum can be seen demonstrating the game plan to his side ahead of this important fixture against Mumbai Indians. He asked, “Who is the best player of pool in the team”, and then chose the Windies all-rounder Sunil Narine to start the proceedings. He described a pool table as a cricket field and ‘Breaking the ball’ as the toss. He then went on to give insights as the things followed.

Iyer on McCullum

In a video posted by KKR, Venkatesh Iyer, the young Knight said that there is no pressure with McCullum. He spoke about the coach’s role in his success. “It is always good to see McCullum, and I am really excited to bat as he’s going to watch. There is no such pressure when he is right behind the nets. He is not a coach that puts a lot of pressure on us. He allows us to be what we are, and play the cricket that gives us maximum satisfaction. So I think that’s good for players like us.”

He was asked if he tried to play aggressive cricket because he was playing in front of McCullum. However, Iyer said, “Not like that, see the best quality about someone aggressive is he knows how to handle situations and players. So, I guess, he just lets us be ourselves and that’s going to work.”
