The World Test Championship 2023 final, which will take place at The Oval in London starting on June 7, will pit India against Australia. After losing in the championship game of the first WTC, Rohit Sharma and company will be going for their first title. India, who was captained by Virat Kohli during that time, fell to New Zealand in the 2019–21 WTC final by an eight-wicket margin.
From February 9 to March 13, India and Australia competed against one another for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The last Test finished in a draw, with India winning the match 2-1 as the hosts.
In his analysis of India’s bowling unit prior to the WTC final, Australian star Marnus Labuschagne suggested that they might need to alter their strategy because of the increased bounce in England.
Labuschange said
“There’s probably a bit more bounce here in England than in India, so probably just need to factor that into how they bowl. Ashwin’s tactics might change a little bit, Jadeja’s tactics might change a little bit, so just adjusting to those on the fly out there, what they’re going to try and do, making sure you’re nice and aware out there,” he said.
Additionally, according to Labuschagne, because they will be using Dukes balls, India’s pacers will be better able to demonstrate their abilities.
“We’ve played two of India’s main seamers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, who are going to play, at least three actually if Umesh Yadav plays as well, two months ago. In terms of seeing and knowing their actions and what they do, we’re pretty clear on that. Obviously with the Dukes ball in hand, they’ll be able to showcase their skills a lot more,” he added.
All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid‘s starting XI for the WTC final as well. They will be without KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter. Fans will be wondering if India would play Srikar Bharat or Ishan Kishan, especially in light of Pant’s unavailability.
