“Main Shahid Afridi nahi hoon. Retirement le chuka hoon”: Raina when asked about returning to the IPL

Because of Suresh Raina’s great performance in the current Legends League Cricket, a reporter inquired as to whether he would return for the IPL 2023. The southpaw, however, responded with an epic statement, “Main Suresh Raina hoon “Shahid Afridi nahi hoon.” Raina is content to be retired after declaring his retirement on August 15, 2020. The former Pakistan captain is notorious for making comebacks after retirement.

Raina’s hilarious response

A reporter told Raina that everyone wants him in the IPL after his great performance in the Legends League Cricket. The reporter said, “Everyone wants you back in the IPL after your performance tonight in Legends League Cricket.” 

Raina clean bowled the reporter after his hilarious response. “Main Suresh Raina hoon. Main Shahid Afridi nahi hoon. Retirement le chuka hoon (I’m Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi. I’ve taken retirement)” and burst into laughter.

In the fourth match of the Legends League Cricket 2023, Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa both smashed unbeaten half-centuries to enable India Maharajas easily chase down 158 against Asia Lions. To give Maharajas their first victory of the year, the openers shared a 159-run stand that lasted the entire game.

The victory was by a margin of ten wickets.

With Uthappa scoring an unbeaten 88 off 39 balls with 11 boundaries and five sixes and Gambhir scoring an unbeatable 61 off 36 balls with 12 boundaries, the opening combination tore through the Asia Lions’ attack at the stadium.

Suresh Raina, the second player by CSK to be retained before the IPL Auction 2018, is a visual treat for the audience in this shortest format of the game. He is a capable ball striker who has the uncommon ability to execute well under duress. Raina, who bats in the top order, is an expert at winning games. The left-handed batsman doubles as an occasional off-break bowler, frequently delivering the key wicket at just the right moment. Raina is a livewire on the field with quick reflexes to go along with his skill with the bat and the ball. He is called the Mr. IPL for his consistent performances in the IPL.
