Mahi is back after his stint with Army

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni returned home after finishing his stint with his Territorial Army Unit. He was seen reunited with his wife Sakshi Dhoni and daughter Ziva in New Delhi.

The back story

MS Dhoni had taken a couple of months break from international cricket after World Cup 2019 and joined the Indian Army in Jammu to do his duty of an Army man. He was with 106 TA Battalion (Para) in Jammu from July 31. During this period he fulfilled every possible duty as a Lt Colonel in the Territorial Army. Dhoni holds an honorary title of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army and his stint with the Army ended on August 15. During his deployment in the Kashmir Valley as part of the Victor Force, the living legend of cricket completed the duties of patrolling, guard and post duty.

When the Indian Government decided to scrap Article 370 and revoked the special statues from Kashmir, Dhoni was present in the valley. The decision was followed by dividing the state into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Dhoni later went to Ladakh with his unit on the eve of the 73rd Independence Day. The images of him playing cricket with the kids at Ladakh were all over social media. He also promised to open a cricket academy in Ladakh. According to reports Dhoni was selected to hoist National Flag at Leh on Independence Day as well.

Dhoni earns respect

Dhoni’s stint with the Territorial Army earned him respect from all across the world. His love and passion for Indian cricket are already famous. His patriotism makes headlines often. Now, this stint showed how much he truly feels for the country and countrymen. The West Indian seamer Sheldon Cottrell showed his respect and saluted Dhoni for his such act. He shared a video of Dhoni receiving Padmabhushan and wrote, “This man is an inspiration on the cricket field. But he is also a patriot and a man that gives to his country beyond duty. I have been at home in Jamaica with my boys these past weeks and had time to reflect,” Cottrell wrote.
