Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has identified left-arm chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav as a potential game-changer for Team India in the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence on October 5. Yadav, known for his exceptional spin bowling skills, has been a consistent performer in the One Day International (ODI) format, making him a valuable asset for the Indian squad.

Kuldeep Yadav boasts an impressive record in ODIs, having scalped 141 wickets. Of his 141 ODI wickets, 81 have been right-handers, while 60 have been left-handers, showcasing his ability to trouble batsmen from all angles.

In the year 2023, Kuldeep Yadav has been exceptional for Team India. The left-arm chinaman has claimed 23 wickets in 13 ODIs, reaffirming his status as a formidable force in the limited-overs format. His performances have also propelled him ahead of other spinners in the Indian cricket setup, including leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, and off-spinners R Ashwin and Washington Sundar. 

Kuldeep Yadav’s excellence extended to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. Representing the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2023 IPL season, the wrist-spinner made a significant impact. He secured 10 wickets in 14 innings, displaying a remarkable strike rate of 29.40 and an average of 36.10.

Kaif highlighted Kuldeep’s effectiveness against both right-handed and left-handed batsmen, emphasizing the uniqueness of his bowling skills. 

Kaif stated, “Kuldeep Yadav can be Rohit Sharma’s trump card at the World Cup. He is equally effective against all kinds of batters. Of his 141 ODI wickets, 81 are right-handers and 60 are lefties. No surprise there is no off-spinner in the team.”
