Kohli gives his insight on being vegan

Virat Kohli is famous for his on-field attitude and off-field lifestyle. He has redefined the meaning of fitness for Indian cricketers and athletes overall as well. Since he has turned vegetarian he never misses a chance to promote how good that is. Wednesday was not any exception as well.

What Kohli says

On Wednesday, Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team captain took to social media to highlight the importance and goodness of a vegetarian diet. According to Virat, he has never felt better in life after turning vegetarian last year. His post context was related to the Netflix Documentary ‘The Game Changers’. The show discloses how retired English professional mixed martial artist travels the world on a quest for the truth about meat, protein, and strength. Virat wrote on Twitter, “Saw game changers on Netflix. Being a vegetarian athlete has made me realise what I have believed all these years regarding diet was a myth. What an amazing documentary and yes I’ve never felt better in my life after I turned vegetarian.”

The Indian skipper recently surpassed Mohammed Azharuddin to become the most successful Indian captain in terms of leading the team to the most number of Test series whitewashes with a minimum of three matches. Under Kohli, India sealed 3-0 win against South Africa followed by some brilliant showcase by the pacers.

Veganism followed by famous athletes

Virat Kohli became vegan a year back and according to the earlier version of sources he does not miss meat. “Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased. He isn’t missing meat, eggs or dairy,” sources had earlier said.

Apart from Kohli, Tennis super sisters Serena Williams and Venus Williams, four-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton and legendary sprinter Carl Lewis are among the top athletes who turned vegetarian in the past. These athletes have proved how meat as a protein provider is not always necessary if one is following the proper balanced vegan diet.
