Buttler on Sharma
The smooth and effortless Rohit Sharma made the famous English batsman Jos Buttler a fan of him. During an Instagram live session on Rajasthan Royals official page, Buttler told, “Rohit Sharma I think is an awesome player. Effortless. Quite a lot of Indian players have that awesome style. He went on to explain why he likes the batting of Rohit Sharma. “He has been fantastic for a long time and I just like the way he bats and the effortless nature in which he takes people down.”
Buttler further opined, “One of the things I have seen with Rohit is that if he gets in, he scores big runs and really affects the game. He must have scored 4-5 hundreds in the World Cup last year.” Buttler used to share the dressing room with Rohit Sharma in 2016 and 2017 as Mumbai Indians players. No wonder he saw his Indian counterpart quite closely. Buttler added how Sharma managed to the shortcoming of Indian players which was widely known. “I think a few years ago people used to attack Indian players with the short ball but Rohit smashes them. Then you go fuller and he smashes them right down the ground.”
The legendary Sharma
Rohit is undoubtedly one of the greatest ODI players India has ever produced. He is just behind his skipper Virat Kohli in the ICC rankings. Sharma is the only batsman to have scored three double hundred in the history of IDI cricket. Last year Sharma went on to match Sachin Tendulkar’s most number of centuries in World Cup after adding five hundred to his name during 2019 edition and ending the tournament with 648 runs.
