Shubman Gill is the next big thing of Indian cricket. Since his domestic days, he has given the impression of maturity through his batting that is required at international level. No wonder he has already made his place in the longest format of the game for India. But when it comes to the T20I cricket, he has a long distance to cover. He might have ended as the highest scorer for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020, his batting approach often goes against the format. In the first match of KKR he scored only 15 runs off 13 deliveries. When the middle-order looks up to him for a solid start, his slow batting often creates pressure on them. This IPL is going to be an important one for Gill for his future in T20I cricket.
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya did not have an impactful IPL 2020. Back then he was recovering from his injury post-surgery and was not able to contribute with the ball. However, he was there at times with the bat scoring 281 runs in 13 innings with a strike rate nearing 180. This year Mumbai Indians failed to start the campaign on a winning note yet again and clearly fell short of few runs. After inconsistency at the top order, the fans had expectations from Hardik Pandya. A cameo from Pandya can change the fate of any match. But he ended up scoring only score seven runs. Mumbai Indians will be hoping to claim a dominating win in their second match of the edition and Hardik Pandya will play a key role. This time he can be seen bowling a couple of overs as well.
