After a long break in which Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals traveled from Chennai and Mumbai respectively to Delhi, the teams will meet each other at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Both the teams are on 4 points but net run rate separated them as Mumbai is in fourth position and Royals are in the seventh position.
Mumbai has won just two out of their five matches and a part of their failure is because of the poor form of their batters. Except Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar Yadav, no other batters even crossed 100 runs for the defending champions. In this context, Rohit Sharma’s total tally of 201 runs in five matches is a massive contribution for his team. The Mumbai Indians captain got starts in all the matches but could convert only one of those starts to fifty. In the batting conditions in Delhi, Rohit would look to bat long and play a key innings for his team. Once Rohit can stay in the crease for 25-30 balls then that would be a huge boost for Mumbai Indians as once Rohit is set then no score would be unachievable for Mumbai Indians.
Like Mumbai Indians, even for Rajasthan Royals, their captain Sanju Samson is their most important player. Sanju started the season with a bang but he followed it by few low scores and questions were again raised regarding his temperament. However, Sanju showed his capability to take the responsibility for his team in a solid chase with a confident unbeaten 42. Royals are not among the strongest teams in this IPL and suffering significantly as lot of their overseas players are out due to various reasons. This makes the job of the first-time captain Samson difficult but at the same time given him a brilliant opportunity to drive a young team with his leadership skills. Against the strong bowling line up of Mumbai Indians, Samson will be the main man for the Royals who can change the game with either his big hitting or a gritty knock.
