IPL Points Table 2023: Updated After RCB vs KKR Match 36

Kolkata Knight Riders finally produced a well-rounded team performance in the Indian Premier League after struggling in the first half of the league stage. The team’s excellent display with both bat and ball, combined with their superior fielding, led to their third win of the season. The victory was especially significant as it marked their second win against Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. 

The opener Jason Roy played a crucial role in setting up KKR’s win by scoring 56 runs off just 29 balls. Nitish Rana also played a pivotal innings, scoring 48 runs off 21 balls to maintain the team’s momentum during the middle overs. Rinku Singh and David Wiese provided the finishing touches, contributing 18 runs off 10 balls and 12 runs off 3 balls, respectively. 

Despite Virat Kohli‘s valiant efforts to keep RCB’s chase on track, scoring 54 runs off 37 balls, the team struggled to maintain momentum due to regular wickets from Suyash Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell. Eventually, RCB ran out of steam and fell short by 21 runs. Overall, it was an excellent performance by KKR, who will look to carry this momentum forward into their upcoming matches. 

By thrashing RCB in an almost one-sided affair, KKR have jumped one spot and are now seated in the 7th spot of the points table. KKR now have 3 wins in 8 games and have 6 points in their account. They have pushed Mumbai down by one spot. RCB on the other hand are right where they were before this game, at the 5th spot with 4 wins in 8 games.
