IPL Points Table 2023: Updated After LSG vs MI Match 63

However, Marcus Stoinis played a sensational innings, remaining unbeaten on 89 runs off just 47 balls. It was Stoinis’ highest score in the IPL and proved instrumental in setting a competitive total of 177l on what appeared to be a difficult pitch to bat on. 

Mumbai’s quick-paced start

In response, Mumbai Indians started their chase aggressively, with Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma forming a formidable opening partnership. They added 90 runs in just 9.4 overs, seemingly putting Mumbai in a commanding position. However, Lucknow’s Ravi Bishnoi dismissed both batsmen, providing a glimmer of hope for his team. 

With 30 runs required from the last two overs, Tim David showcased his hitting prowess by smashing two sixes off Naveen-ul-Haq, reducing the target to just 11 runs from six balls. However, it was Mohsin Khan’s exceptional final over that turned the tide in Lucknow Super Giants’ favor.

In the last over, MI required 11 runs to win, with Tim David and Cameron Green, two big hitters on strike. LSG’s captain, Krunal Pandya, trusted Mohsin Khan with the final over. Executing a remarkable display of bowling skills under pressure, Mohsin Khan’s mix of hard lengths and wide yorkers confounded Mumbai’s batsmen. His exceptional over allowed only five runs and sealed a crucial win for Lucknow Super Giants, solidifying their place in the playoffs. 

With this win, LSG have propelled themselves to third place in the Points Table, and their chances of playoffs qualification is almost guaranteed. They have 15 points in 13 games, exactly the same as the Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians are just one place behind them, in fourth place on the Points Table.
