IPL Points Table 2023: Updated After GT vs RR Match 23

MI continue domination over KKR

Mumbai Indians have always been known to dominate KKR in the league and they continued their domination in today’s game as well. Mumbai won the toss and put KKR to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first, KKR put up a competitive score of 185 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant century by Venkatesh Iyer, only the second KKR batter in the history of the IPL to do so.

In reply, Mumbai charged at the KKR bowlers right from the start. Mumbai ended the powerplay at 72 for 1 and by then it was clear that the game was falling into their lap. Venkatesh Iyer’s hundred went in vain as MI chased down the score in just 17.4 overs. The game was of particular importance to MI as it marked Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav getting back in form. Mumbai have now climbed up one spot and are now at the 8th spot in the points table after today’s win. KKR, on the other hand, have managed to hold down their 5th position despite the defeat.

Rajasthan pull off a magical chase

In the second game of the day, hosts Gujarat Titans took on the Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. Having put on to bat first, Gujarat Titans were able to manage 177 runs in their 20 overs with 7 wickets. Shubman Gill and David Miller shined with the bat with 45 and 46 runs respectively.

In reply, Rajasthan were reduced to 4 for 2 inside 3 overs, having lost both their openers. Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya were moving the new ball both ways, making it impossible for Rajasthan batters to put up a fight whatsoever. Nonetheless, fifties from Captain Sanju Samson and West Indies hitter Shimron Hetmyer made sure that Rajasthan emerged victorious, with 4 balls to spare. With this win, Rajasthan have cemented their spot at the top of the points table. Gujarat Giants, have also managed to stay in the 3rd spot despite the defeat.
