The Lucknow Super Giants had a satisfying first season of the Indian Premier League. They qualified for the playoffs but fell short of the IPL title. The Supergiants blossomed in the first half and lost the plot a little bit in the second half. They were overly dependent on their star players to perform. This time, the team looks balanced and have all the credentials to go the distance in the tournament.
All-rounders are a crucial part of any side in cricket. But more so ever in T20s. Playing them is like having an extra player in the side. Marcus Stoins is a very important member of the Lucknow team. He provides a lot of stability to the playing 11.
In his 67 matches played so far in the IPL, Marcus Stoinis has amassed 1070 runs.
having an average of 26.10. Moreover, he has scored four half-centuries, with 65 runs being his greatest IPL total.
Marcus Stoinis was acquired by the Lucknow franchise in the IPL Auction 2023 for Rs 10.00 Cr.
The all-rounder has improved by leaps and bounds since his arrival at the IPL. Initially, he was very strong against pace but struggled against spinners. But since the last year, Stoinis has drastically improved his technique against spin. He attacks the spinners from the word go putting them under constant pressure. Thus, he would play a very crucial role in the middle order of the supergiants. He can play anywhere in the batting lineup providing flexibility to the lineup. He is one of the best finishers in the world of cricket right now.
Stoinis also provides a reliable death bowling option for Lucknow. He has many variations under his sleeves with cutters, slower balls into the wicket, a good bouncer, and a lethal yorker. KL would bank on him to deliver with the ball under tough situations. He is a fierce competitor and likes pressure situations.
Lucknow will want their star Australian all-rounder to have an excellent season with the bat as well as the ball. The ever-improving all-rounder will look to stamp his authority on the tournament with his all-round skills.
