In the IPL 2023 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma chose to bowl after winning the toss. Jofra Archer, who is out for the remainder of the season, is replaced in the lineup by Chris Jordan. Karn Sharma has been replaced by Vyshak Vijay Kumar for the RCB team.
Why is Tilak Varma not playing today?
The Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma explained his absence during the coin toss during the match against the CSK and stated that Tilak Varma wasn’t available owing to an injury. He didn’t mention the wound all that much. Tristan Stubbs replaced Tilak. He continues to remin injured and hence is not available for today’s match as well.

What did the captains say at the toss?
Faf du Plessis: Generally you chase here because of the nature of this ground. Big score always creates the scoreboard pressure. They have a good batting line-up, hopefully we get wickets in their innings. There are a lot of teams in the race for that third and fourth spot, we need to play good cricket. One change for us, Vyshak comes in for Karn Sharma.
Rohit Sharma: We are going to bowl first. It’s been good for us, we have chased down targets here, it’s a good pitch. Looks like a typical Mumbai pitch with even grass covering and also a few patches. Not sure how it’s going to play, but we are hoping for the best. We understand the importance of this game, but what’s in our control is in our control. We need to play good cricket, rest will take care of itself. Archer is out, we got Jordan, he will make his debut today.
