A big blow for Gujarat Titans during the opening match of the IPL. Kane Williamson was seen in pain while attempting for a catch on the boundary line. In trying to attempt a catch, he lept high to take the catch and landed heavily on his knee. The Kiwi skipper was holding his knee tightly and was seen in extreme pain.
As it happened
He made a great effort at the midwicket line. Before crossing the ropes, he caught it and flips it into the air. He sprains his right knee when he lands, though, and appears to be in serious difficulty. He is receiving care from the physio outside the perimeter. Gaikwad whacks a slower-length ball across the line; it lands flat and is quickly thrown back inside by Williamson before an accident happens. The ball strikes the wall.
He was taken out of the ground by the medical staff. The injury looks concerning by the look on his face. He was receiving care from the physio outside the boundary. Chennai are looking to put on a big total on the board with Ruturaj nearing a hundred.
Kane Williamson did not come to bat for Gujarat Titans. Sai Sudarshan came in at number 3 by the impact rule.

With the return of famed actor Mandira Bedi, the IPL 2023 Opening Ceremony got off to a spectacular start. The well-known actor from the 1990s dabbled in cricket broadcasting but left it after a few years. Yet what a way to return: in front of a raucous audience in the biggest stadiums in the globe. While all was going on, Arijit Singh charmed the crowd with songs like Kesariya, Channa Mereya, and the current single, Tujhe Kitna Chaahne Lagey Hum. Following Arijit’s performance, Tamanna Bhatia dazzled the audience with some incredible dancing. Rashmika Madanna was the final act after Tamanna, and the audience went wild.
