IPL 2023: Discarded Indian all rounder named as the replacement of David Willey

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have dealt with another injury blow ahead of their crucial encounter against Lucknow. English left-arm bowler David Willey has been ruled out of the IPL due to injury. Kedar Jadhav has been signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to replace David Willey, who will miss the rest of the IPL 2023 due to injury. The seasoned Indian all-rounder Jadhav is renowned for his capacity to bowl effective off-spin and play significantly in the middle-order.

A Statement said

“Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday named Kedar Jadhav as a replacement for David Willey for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Willey, the England all-rounder, played four matches for RCB this season and scalped three wickets. Jadhav, who made his IPL debut in 2010, has so far played 93 IPL games and has 1196 runs against his name. The right-handed batter, who has previously represented RCB in 17 matches, was brought on board for INR 1 Crore,” IPL’s statement read.

Kedar Jadhav’s record for RCB

IPL: Innings – 16

Runs – 309

Average – 25.75

Strike Rate – 141.74

Kedar Jadhav played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2016 IPL. The Maharashtra player has represented Delhi Capitals previously known as Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala. In 87 IPL games, he has scored 1,594 runs at an average of 22.52 and a strike rate of 126.13. Additionally, he has 16 wickets in the competition with an 8.28 economy rate. RCB’s middle-order batting has been a problem, so Jadhav’s experience and ability to complete innings could be a useful addition to their lineup. The team will be counting on him to have an impact right away in future games.

Prior to the RCB team’s match against the Lucknow Super Giants on May 1, Jadhav will arrive in Lucknow to join the team. Whether or not he will be in the starting XI is still unknown. Jadhav was doing Marathi commentary in the recent IPL.
