IPL 2022 Mega Auction to Be Held in February

The IPL mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore as per a recent report on Cricbuzz. However, the BCCI is yet to officially announce the dates. Cricbuzz mentioned that the IPL officials contacted each franchise on Thursday (December 23) to inform them of the dates.

A franchise official told Cricbuzz, “It has been clarified to us that the match and auction are two different things and both will go ahead.” The BCCI officials reportedly also mentioned one clash of the schedule with an ODI between India and West Indies. But the board assured that the proceedings will go according to the final schedule. The second One-Day International between India and West Indies is scheduled for February 12 in Kolkata. It is also learned that the Star Sports officials are also made aware of the same as they are the broadcast rights holders of both events.

The Indian cricket board already asked the international boards and state associations to send in the names of the players to be enrolled for the auction. The deadline for the same is January 17. This time IPL will be bigger with 10 teams participating and more than 1000 players with as many as between 200 to 250 expected to go under the hammer.

The franchises will have to reach Bangalore by February 11 evening as the formal pre-auction briefing, a normal feature of every auction will be held on the day. Cricbuzz had reported yesterday about the possible dates of the auction to be between February 10 and 13.
